International Convention of Asia Scholars (ICAS)

This anthropological study addresses religion and gender relations through the lens of lives, actions and the role in Thai society of an order of Buddist nuns. It presents a unique ethnography of these nuns and examines what it implies to be a female ascetic in comtemporary Thailand.
